Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov will have a hearing with the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety on Tuesday after punching Vancouver Canucks forward Kyle Burroughs in the face Monday night.
The incident happened late in the second period when Kuznetsov appeared to aim his stick intentionally in Burroughs’ face after losing the puck behind the net. Kuznetsov then cross-checked Burroughs while on the ice.
The Capitalss forward was given a two-minute high-sticking penalty.
Kuznetsov, 30, has four assists in four games this season, his 10th with the Capitals.
