Summary of NHL games, Sunday March 10, 2024

Connor McDavid scored his 30th multi-point game this season in a 4-0 shutout of the Edmonton Oiers over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday.

Goaltenders Calvin Pickard and Stuart Skinner made 41 saves for the second combined shutout in Oilers history. The other belongs to the duo Andy Moog and Grant Fuhr, who shut out the Quebec Nordiques on January 1, 1985.

Skinner only played 1:16 while Pickard played the rest of the game.

McDavid opened the scoring at 1:08 of the first period for his 24th goal of the campaign.

The Oilers star was also an accomplice on Mattias Ekholm’s fifth goal of the campaign, still in the first. McDavid also had an assist on the first of two goals Darnell Nurse in the third period.

On Saturday, McDavid saw his streak of 13 games with at least one point come to an end. McDavid has three goals and 32 points in his last 15 games.

This is the first time in his career that Nurse has found the back of the net twice in a match. He even came close to finishing with a hat trick in the final moments of the game during a three-on-one push during a numerical disadvantage.

The Oilers suddenly put the brakes on their two-game losing streak while the Penguins continued to get bogged down by suffering a third consecutive loss.

Tristan Jarry stopped 38 pucks in front of the Penguins, who were shut out in back-to-back home games for the first time since 2004.
