Dylan Cozens scored three goals and added an assist in a 7-4 Buffalo Sabers win over the Washington Capitals in Sunday afternoon play.
Cozens has hit the target in each of the periods, allowing him to total 23 goals this season. He was also an accomplice on the first of Vinnie Hinostroza.
This performance by Cozens (38-62) allows him to reach 100 career points. He is the third player in the 2019 draft to reach this mark after Jack Hughes (182) and Trevor Zegras (124).
It’s the fifth time this season that the Sabers have scored seven or more goals in a game. Only Edmonton did better with six games.
Buffalo has won its last three games.
Tage Thompson reached 40 goals as Jeff Skinner scored his 25th of the season. Skinner has eight points in his last five games.
Thompson is the third Sabers player to reach 40 goals in the last 20 years after Skinner (2018-19) and Thomas Vanek, who did it twice (2006-07 and 2008-09).
Alex Ovechkin got his 33rd goal for the Capitals.
Sonny Milano, TJ Oshie and Dylan Strome have the others in the loss.
