NHL: Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness dizzy

Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness ended his meeting with the media abruptly Monday morning after feeling dizzy and unwell.

The 67-year-old returned to the Jets bench on Saturday after being sidelined by COVID-19 early in the season.

Bowness tested positive for COVID-19 hours before the team’s season opener against the New York Rangers last week. Jets associate coach Scott Arniel took on the interim for the Jets on their road trip.

Bowness enters his first season as Jets head coach after spending the last three seasons with the Dallas Stars, where he went 89-62-25 in 176 games. He led the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2019-20, where the Stars lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The native of Moncton, New Brunswick, was previously the interim head coach of the Jets in 1989.

Winnipeg will host the St Louis Blues on Monday night.
