BUFFALO, NY – David Pastrnak boosted his record with a three-point night, and the Boston Bruins dominated the Buffalo Sabers 5-2 on Tuesday night.
Pastrnak added an 11th goal to his tally, in addition to adding his 12th and 13th assists, giving him 24 points in just 14 games.
The other four scorers for Boston (12-1-2), Danton Heinen, Brandon Carlo, Oscar Steen and Hampus Lindholm, all scored their first goal of the campaign.
Rookie goalie Devon Levi was manhandled by the Bruins, who scored five goals against him on 18 shots.
The Montreal goalkeeper’s evening of work ended after only 35 minutes of play, while head coach Don Granato called on Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in relief.
In front of the other net, Linus Ullmark gave up twice to his fellow Swede Victor Olofsson.
As if the bitter setback wasn’t enough, the Sabers (7-8-1) will have to keep an eye on the health of their star forward Tage Thomspon, who was unable to complete the game .
Injured to his lower body during a fall following contact with defender Charlie McAvoy in the first period, Thompson initially returned to the game, before retreating a second time towards the locker room.
After the game, Sabers coach Don Granato said Thompson would have to miss some time.
No. 72 of the Sabers scored 47 goals during the 2022-2023 season, and begins this season a seven-year, $50 million pact. Before the game, the Sabers honored Kyle Okposo who played in his 1000th NHL game.
