The Winnipeg News reports that Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Strome will not face any additional penalties for his kneeing of Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor.
Following the incident in the opening minute of the second period of Sunday’s game, which the Jets won 4-2, Strome was given a major penalty.
The star player for the Jets attempted a backhand shot as he converged towards the slot, but Stome struck him in the right knee. Then, Mark Scheifele instantly dropped the gloves against the Ducks forward to defend his teammate.
After that, Connor stayed on the ice for a short while and required assistance from Josh Morrissey and Nikolaj Ehlers to get off the ice. A magnetic resonance imaging examination will provide additional insight into the extent of Connor’s injury.
With 17 goals and 11 assists in 26 games, Connor is tied for first place on the Jets’ scoring list with Scheifele. Five of the previous six seasons have seen at least 30 goals scored by the 27-year-old American.
