The New York Islanders have offered Quebec forward Julien Gauthier a two-year contract.
The club has also granted two-part one-year contracts to forwards Karson Kuhlman and Brian Pinho.
Gauthier, 26, had 14 points (9 goals, 5 assists) in 57 games last season with the New York Rangers and Ottawa Senators. The Pointe-aux-Trembles native hit NHL career highs in games, goals and points in his fourth professional season.
“It’s sure it’s fun to be in a competitive team. I was looking for a good place for me. It’s hard sometimes when you don’t get much chance to play. I’m not asking for 20 minutes per game, but to have a small chance to prove myself,” he told RDS at the Lachute golf club a few moments before the official announcement of his new contract.
He was a first-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2016 (21st). In his NHL career, he has 14 goals and 18 assists in 153 games with Carolina, the Rangers and the Senators.
