NHL: Jeff Skinner and Jamie Oleksiak suspended for three games

Buffalo Sabers forward Jeff Skinner has been suspended for three games for cross-checking Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel on Saturday.

The incident happened yesterday with just 21.3 seconds left in the third period and it was tied at 3-3. Skinner and Guentzel traded several sticks up the ramp before the Sabers player landed his reprehensible cross-check.

Skinner then received a five-minute major and was ejected from the game, while both players also received minor stabbing penalties.

The Penguins then won 4-3 in overtime on a Jeff Carter power play goal.

Later in the day, Seattle Kraken defenseman Jamie Oleksiak was also suspended for three games.

Oleksiak elbowed Washington Capitals defenseman Alexander Alexeyev in the head on Friday.

He made his move in the second period and was kicked out of the game. Alexeyev meanwhile retired to the locker room and did not return to play afterwards in this match won 4-1 by the Capitals.

Oleksiak has four goals and three assists in 22 games this season.
