NHL: Evander Kane back to see Connor McDavid bring down Seattle

It was Evander Kane’s return night with the Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid made sure his teammate tasted victory.

The Oilers star scored a goal in a 5-2 win over the Seattle Kraken that saw its winning streak on opposing rinks cut to seven.

Kane has been sidelined since sustaining a wrist laceration Nov. 8 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He finished the game with 17 minutes 9 seconds of playing time and recorded seven shots on net.

Trailing 1-0 in the game, the Oilers saw McDavid take matters into their own hands. The attacker grabbed the disc in his territory and sped towards the Kraken area. Justin Schultz fell in front of McDavid’s arrival and the latter beat Martin Jones with a good throw for his 38e goal of the season.

Vincent Desharnais then became an accomplice on the net of Derek Ryan who got the lead for the Oilers. Warren Foegele provided his team with a two-goal cushion before the end of the second period.

Vince Dunn approached the Kraken to a goal in the 22nde second of play of the third period. Zach Hyman replied a minute later, however, and Ryan McLeod put the game out of reach for Seattle midway through the period.
