NHL: Brayden Point received a severe contact from Morgan Rielly

The Tampa Bay Lightning held their breath after watching forward Brayden Point leave for the locker room following a heavy collision against the ramp.

With 14 minutes 56 seconds left in the third period in Game 3 of the series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Point was pushed against the rail while on forecheck by Morgan Rielly.

The attacker lost his balance and slammed against the ramp. He got up on the spot before collapsing on the ice a little further. After a short time in the locker room, he nevertheless returned to his team’s bench afterwards.

Such a gesture from Rielly obviously angered Point’s teammates. Nikita Kucherov rushed the Leafs defender to grab him. For his part, Steven Stamkos even threw down the gloves with Auston Matthews.

The officials first announced a five-minute penalty to Rielly in order to have the opportunity to review the play. Finally, they judged that the sequence did not deserve any penalty.
