Connor Bedard: already $2.5 million sold in season tickets in Chicago

The upcoming arrival of Connor Bedard with the Chicago Blackhawks is already being felt.

According to Ben Pope of Chicago Sun Timesthe Blackhawks saw a surge in the number of season tickets sold for the upcoming campaign after winning the draft lottery on Monday night.

Pope reports the club sold $2.5 million in packages within 90 minutes of the lottery, with more than 500 new full-season subscriptions.

Bedard is unanimously seen as the first choice of the next draft which will take place in June. Considered a generational talent, he was the Canadian Hockey League’s leading scorer this season with 71 goals and 143 points in 57 games.

The North Vancouver, B.C. native also shone internationally at the 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship, setting the record for most points by a Canadian player at the tournament with 23.

Chicago entered the lottery with the third-best odds of landing the top pick at 11.5%.

The Blackhawks went 26-49-7 this season, missing the playoffs for the fifth time in six seasons.
