After just one season with the Vikings, Za’Darius Smith leaves Minnesota. NFL Media reported that Smith was sent to the Browns with a 6th and a 7th round pick in 2025. In exchange, the Vikings get two 5th round picks, one in 2024 and the other in 2025.
After asking to be traded, Za’Darius Smith therefore won his case after his leaders. This change of scenery is also accompanied by a renegotiation of the contract, which guarantees him 11.75 million dollars in 2023. He will become a free agent at the end of the season. He had signed for 3 years and 42 million dollars for the Vikings in March 2022.
In his only season in Minnesota, Smith compiled 44 tackles and 10 sacks in 16 games. He will therefore bring his qualities to the defensive line of the Browns, who were desperately looking for solidity in the pass rush, unlike Myles Garrett.
