This is the bad news of the day for the Chiefs, the tight end could be absent on Thursday.
Hard blow for Kansas City! The head coach of the franchise, Andy Reid explained in a press conference that his player, Travis Kelce, was injured in training. The tight end would suffer from a hyper extension of the knee. Also according to his coach, his availability for Thursday’s season opener against the Lions is uncertain.
Kelce, 34, has never missed a regular season game due to injury since entering the league. His last absence dates back to 2021, when only the Covid had managed to keep him away from the pitch.
His absence would deprive Patrick Mahomes of his best target. With 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns, Travis Kelce is the only player in the squad to have exceeded 1,000 receiving yards in 2022.
