Trade: the Vikings go up to get Dallas Turner (DE)

Minnesota continues its aggressive evening. After setting up a trade for their quarterback of the future, the Vikings move up 6 spots to the other side of the ball and select Dallas Turner with the 17th selection in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

As compensation, the Jaguars get a 3rd round 2024 and a 3rd and 5th round 2025.

After losing Danielle Hunter during free agency, the Vikings found her successor with the Alabama player.

The Dallas Class

In the pure tradition of the Tuscaloosa program, Dallas Turner combines speed, versatility and intelligence to be a complete edge capable of doing everything.

In three seasons with Alabama, he had 22.5 sacks. During the 2023 campaign, he made 10 in 14 games, with 53 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and a deflected pass to boot.

His biggest challenge will perhaps be adapting to the cold of Minnesota, having been born in Florida and studied in Alabama.

The hope for Minnesota is to inherit a player like Will Anderson, who also played at Alabama before coming to destroy everything in the NFL with the Texans. In 2023, Houston had also done like the Vikings this year in the first round: a quarterback and a pass rusher.
