Deprived of the first round this year, the Panthers finally invited themselves at the very end of the first evening. By trading their 33rd pick with the Bills, Carolina offers receiver Xavier Legette.
The benefit for Carolina in not waiting until Friday night is the possibility of having a 5th year option for the player. This option is only present on the contracts of rookies selected in the first round.
Carolina receives picks 32 (1st round) and 200 (6th round). The Bills receive picks 33 (2nd round) and 141 (5th round).
For the Bills, this is the 2nd second trade-back synonymous with absence in the 1st round. However, they will open the ball on the night of Friday to Saturday.
Xavier Legette, too high a bet?
It's a little surprise to see Xavier Legette arrive so quickly. The 1.85m, 98 kilo player was expected around the second or third round. He was even ranked tenth in our Top 20 receivers in the Draft.
With Legette, the Panthers are looking to get a number one receiver for Bryce Young who is in dire need of targets.
Standing 1m85 tall, Legette shone at South Carolina. In 2023, he caught 71 passes in 12 games, for 1,255 yards and 7 touchdowns. With an irregular Diontae Johnson and an Adam Thielen at the end, he could quickly take power in the target group.
