Trade deadline NFL: who will be traded before the deadline?

A popular holiday in the United States, Halloween also marks the time of the NFL Trade Deadline. Who is likely to move? To go where ? If the arrival of Kevin Byard in Philadelphia set the tone, who are the players to follow as October 31 approaches?

They could move

Strengthen yourself to play leading roles this winter (and more if you like), or already anticipate for next season by gleaning draft choices or finding your player of the future. Divergent ambitions can converge towards a common interest on the day of the NFL Trade deadline.

Chase Young – Edge

A true phenomenon upon leaving university, Chase Young is struggling to establish himself in the NFL. Hampered by a serious knee injury that caused him to miss a season and a half, the former Ohio State star saw his 5th year option declined by the Commanders. At the end of his contract after the season, his potential and his age could push some suitors lacking pressure on the line to take the gamble.

But if they blow hot and cold in this first third of the season, the Commanders still remain in the race with a balanced record in a very open NFC. Convincing them to let their former 2nd choice go will therefore not be done without significant compensation.

Ideal Destination: Atlanta Falcons

Jerry Jeudy – WR

His name has come up a lot in rumors since last offseason. Drafted in the 1st round in 2020, Jeudy never assumed the status of number one receiver and confirmed his exploits with Alabama. Between a disappointing quarterback and physical problems, Colorado does not necessarily seem the best place to flourish where the chemistry with Russell Wilson is far from obvious. A team with an established quarterback and lacking secondary targets would not have much to lose, with even a 5th year of contract in 2024 to determine the player’s true level.

Ideal Destination: Buffalo Bills

Brian Burns – Edge

Launched into a reconstruction process, and without any victory for the moment, the Panthers could be tempted if a generous offer arises. Without a 1st round in 2024 following the exchange to select Bryce Young, giving up the pass rusher would help them replenish their draft capital. And the player could get a very big check in his new team.

Ideal destination: Chicaco Bears

Budda Baker – Safety

The double All Pro had widely spoken about his desires elsewhere if he did not obtain a new contract. No extension but an increase, the two parties agreed to temporarily resolve the problem. But in this mid-season when the Cardinals are no longer playing anything, the player could find a challenge that matches his talent while extending in the long term.

Ideal Destination: Jacksonville Jaguars

But also: Darnell Mooney (WR, Bears), Hunter Renfrow (WR, Raiders), Zach Ertz (TE, Cardinals), Dalvin Cook (RB, Jets)

The surprises

Whether they have expressed the desire or the situation of their team pushes them towards the exit, exchanges of renowned players could create a surprise and agitate the market.

Davante Adams – WR

The Raiders receiver has no longer hidden his desires for elsewhere for several weeks. The level of his team, the situation at the quarterback position and his role in Josh McDaniels’ attack frustrates him. At 30, Adams still has a lot to offer. In the difficult context of Vegas, he has already exceeded 500 yards in 7 games.

Ideal Destination: Cleveland Browns

Aaron Jones – RB

Another match where the Packers’ excellent versatile runner was forgotten by his coach. Only 11 balls touched by the Wisconsin men’s number 1 offensive weapon. Unthinkable. And yet this is far from being an isolated case. His reasonable contract could allow an ambitious team to try a move that could provide an immediate boost.

Ideal Destination: Baltimore Ravens

Derrick Henry – RB

Did the fire sale start in Tennessee? The departure of Kevin Byard, a pillar of the defense, may suggest this. The name of the 2020 offensive player of the year could then become a player in the last days of the market. The emergence of rookie Tyjae Spears could also be a facilitator if the franchise is decided to already look towards 2024.

Ideal Destination: Dallas Cowboys
