TOP 100 NFL: Tyreek Hill best player in the league, Patrick Mahomes off the podium

The annual ranking of the top 100 players in the league is out, and it's not a quarterback at number 1! It's Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill who inherits this honor in addition to a new contract. Definitely a great week for the player who had 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023.

As a reminder, these are players who vote with NFL Network to establish the rankings.

It is also a very unfavorable ranking for quarterbacks that was delivered. Only two are in the top 10: Lamar Jackson (2nd) and Patrick Mahomes (4th). Jalen Hurts falls from 3rd place to 16th, while Burrow tumbles 33 places (39th against 6th in 2023). Only Josh Allen maintains his position in the top 12.

Defense well represented in the top 100

This absence therefore leaves room for others, starting with Christian McCaffrey, the versatile 49ers runner who grabs the podium. The defensive line is in the spotlight, with four representatives in the top 10: Myles Garrett (5th), Chris Jones (6th), TJ Watt (8th) and Maxx Crosby (10th). Fred Warner is the first linebacker (11th) and fails at the foot of the top 10.

This has been a long-standing trend for several years, and it is a reality in the top 100: defensive players seem to be much more respected than for the MVP votes. This is also the interest of the player vote, although imperfect: it shows another reality, that of the field (and for some of the reputation).

Legend Aaron Rodgers is ranked 92nd for his part, after a 2023 season that was nevertheless not very productive (4 snaps, 0 yards). Proof also that this ranking is a little broader than just last season's production.
