After seven titles and at 44, the most successful player in NFL history finally feels like he’s nearing the end.
Even if it seems eternal, Tom Brady has never been so close to retirement. He was even there for 40 days, before coming back.
Turning 45 this summer, the seven-time Super Bowl quarterback knows his best days are behind him. And now he’s not afraid to admit it.
“I know I don’t have much left in the tank, really,” he confessed to ESPN. “I know that I am at the end of my career. I wish I could go on forever, but that’s not the case and football is too expensive now. My kids are growing up and it’s getting harder and harder to miss these events. But, I wanted to give myself, my teammates and our organization another incredible opportunity to accomplish something that we would all be very proud of. ”
As for Peyton Manning or Drew Brees, the specter of the season of too much lurks. Still, with a second-place finish in the 2021 MVP vote, No. 12 has shown no signs of slowing down.
In any case, Jason Licht, the general manager of the Buccaneers, confirmed that he and his player have not yet spoken about 2023 and beyond.
