TJ Hockenson extends to the Vikings for a record amount!

The Vikings wasted no time in extending the former Lions tight end.

Entering his final year of rookie contract, Vikings tight end TJ Hockenson has signed a long-term contract with the Vikings, according to ESPN and NFL Media.

ESPN announces that his new contract is for 4 years for 68.5 million dollars. It’s not the most lucrative contract extension for a tight end, with Georges Kittle up front with $75 million. On the other hand, with $42.5 million guaranteed and $17.125 million per year, he becomes the highest paid tight end per season, also with the highest amount guaranteed on his contract at his position.

Traded to the Vikings last season, the tight end has become more than a safety valve for Kirk Cousins. Since his arrival, he has played 10 games, caught 60 balls, for 519 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Absent for the moment for physical (back) and health (ear) concerns, he is back in training this week. He should be in uniform against the Buccaneers next week.
