A season is far from quiet, especially when you take a loss with your former star player.
It often only takes one defeat to blow everything up. At the Titans, the heavy defeat against the Eagles (35-10) had consequences a few days later.
The Tennessee franchise has officially announced that Jon Robinson has been removed as general manager. Ryan Cowden will take care of day-to-day business while the search for a new manager begins at the end of the season.
After serving as director of college scouting for the Patriots and director of personnel at Tampa Bay, Robinson joined the Titans in 2016 as general manager before being given the position of vice president/general manager in 2017.
In the official press release, Amy Adams wanted to thank her now ex-GM:
Since becoming majority owner in 2015, my goal has been to raise the standard for what is expected in all facets of our organization. I think we have made significant progress on and off the pitch through investments in leadership, staff and new ideas. This progress includes the core of our business, the football team itself, which is regularly assessed by both results (wins and losses) and team construction/squad composition. I am proud of what we have achieved in my eight seasons of ownership but I believe there is more to do and higher aspirations to fulfill. I want to thank Jon for his dedicated work in putting this organization on an upward trajectory and wish him and his family all the best.
If on the ground, the results are good with two titles of the South division in AFC, several playoffs and a record of 66 victories for 43 defeats, several aspects weigh against Robinson.
The last drafts have not been good, the attack is down this season (29th in yards and 26th in points) and above all Robinson pays dearly for the transfer of a player who hurt a lot on Sunday: AJ Brown. The receiver caught 8 passes for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Eagles.
While the Titans have had 4 playoffs in 6 seasons under Robinson and a fifth visit is on the program (possibly with a new division title), the franchise will have to quickly look for a new manager.
