Titans – Colts (19-10): Tennessee continues, carried by its defense

Tennessee Titans (4-2) – Indianapolis Colts (3-3-1): 19-10

It’s the second time in less than a month that the two teams have met, and once again it’s the Titans who walk away with the victory. Derrick Henry (30 runs, 128 yards), well muzzled at first, eventually took over the Colts defense, scraping up valuable time. He especially allowed Ryan Tannehill (13/20, 132 yards) to save himself, he who had great difficulty finding his targets. Injured at the end of the third quarter in the ankle, the quarterback left the keys of the attack to his running back.

In the end, it is the defense of the premises that must be credited for this victory. An interception returned to touchdown, another which brings a field goal, and a fumble to put an end to opposing hopes, Andrew Adams and company will have given Matt Ryan a bad afternoon (33/44, 243 yards, 1TD, 2 ints ). Too bad for Indianapolis, Frank Reich seems to have forgotten he had a running back, while Jonathan Taylor (10 races, 58 yards) would have done a lot of good.

Matt Ryan makes gifts

In an early game to the advantage of the defenses, Tennessee nevertheless managed to open the scoring on a field goal. The Colts respond well and approach the redzone. Ryan then commits the irreparable and is intercepted by Andrew Adams who goes up the field to widen the gap, 10-0.

Far from catching up, Ryan chained a second interception and returned the ball to the Titans on their 38 yards. Derrick Henry finally finds space but is blocked at the gates of the endzone. At halftime, the Colts had more first downs, gone for more yards, but trailed 13-0.

The Titans too solid in defense

The second period begins at the same pace as the first, with defenses still dominating. Frank Reich then decides to force the fate of his team and leaves his attack on the ground in 4&2 on the 34 opposing yards. A paying decision, since this possession ends with a touchdown from the Colts who reduce the gap, 13-7.

A short-lived hope for Indianapolis. If the defense limits the Titans to two field goals, the attack is only able to get one. Led by 9 points with 5 minutes remaining, Matt Ryan and his team saw their last chance slip away at the same time as the ball from the hands of Michael Pittman. A fumble that definitely condemns the Colts.

With this fourth straight victory, the second against the Colts, Tennessee increases its lead in the AFC South.
