Tickets, beer, parking… Prices are exploding in the NFL

The beer is lukewarm but the prices are hot. The seats are plastic but NFL ticket prices are concrete.

In ten years, prices for attending an NFL game have increased by an average of 39%. This is what a study by the Finance Buzz site reveals, which compared the prices of 2013 to those of 2023. This is a little more than inflation in the United States over the same period, estimated at 31%.

For the calculation, the study took into account a set including an entrance ticket, a beer, a hotdog and a parking space. As a result, attending an NFL game cost an average of $152 during the 2023 season, compared to $109 ten years earlier.

The Raiders, kings of inflation

The Raiders are winning in at least one area in recent years. But the worst. The move to Las Vegas caused the costs of attending a black and silver meet to rise monumentally.

The trip to the stadium cost $95 in 2013 in Oakland. It's now $198 on average in Vegas, an increase of 108%! When it comes to NFL tickets to attend Raiders games, it's even worse. The increase is 161%! From 65 dollars on average in 2013, it now costs 169 dollars! Tickets to see the Raiders are among the most expensive in the league, and certainly the worst value for money in terms of quality of American football…

Moving is expensive. Because the only team more expensive than the Raiders in 2023 is the 49ers. With $203 on average for an outing to the stadium, the San Francisco franchise is number one in the NFL, while it “only” cost $111 to go see it in its old stadium in 2013.

On NFL tickets in general, the average now stands at $121 for a game, compared to $82 in 2013. We are talking here about tickets officially sold by the teams, not the secondary market.

It’s going down in Dallas…

The good news is that some franchises have managed to stay below US inflation. Eleven teams exactly. And one even managed to lower its prices. This little feat is signed by the Dallas Cowboys. A day at the stadium cost $162 ten years ago, compared to $160 in 2023.

A figure which still needs to be put into perspective, since the Cowboys were the team that cost the most to watch play in 2013. They now find themselves in ninth place.

The Jets (+5%) and Patriots (+6%) are the two other franchises that have best controlled the increase.

Bitter beer

Symbol of match day, beer does not escape inflation. Sometimes in completely crazy proportions. Among the Panthers, beer went from $4.34 to $10.56 in ten years. That’s a 142% increase!

The prize for crazy prices goes to the Eagles, who charge $15.35 for a 50cl pint! On average, the pint has increased by an average of 25% in the NFL, for an average price of $8.81.

The Falcons, who have chosen a softer pricing policy, must be starting to feel alone.
