BENGALS: START OF THE SEASON COMPROMISE FOR JOE BURROW?
Sony Michel retires
Back at the Rams, former Sony first-round draft pick Michel will no longer tread the field. Coach Sean McVay confirmed the news in an interview during training camp, as reported by the NFL Network.
A 28-year-old double NFL champion, Michel has never lived up to expectations on a personal level. In 5 seasons, he totaled 3,682 yards and 20 touchdowns. His replacement is already known, as ESPN has confirmed that the Rams have signed Royce Freeman.
Danielle Hunter (EDGE, Vikings) gets a big raise
In the last year of his contract and regularly mentioned in possible exchanges, Danielle Hunter obtained a new contract which could make him stay in Minnesota. ESPN has confirmed that Hunter will earn $20 million this season with $17 million guaranteed. As a direct consequence, Hunter is back in training.
Darnell Wright (OT, Bears) got the training program wrong
This is the pretty anecdote of the day. According to ESPN, first-round draft pick Darnell Wright got the wrong training program and followed that of the receivers! He confirmed his error in an interview on the sidelines of the camp:
I was watching the race part of the receivers, so I was doing theirs. Obviously our program is different.
Back to normal, Wright apparently “outperformed” in the offensive linemen-only workshops, as NFL media’s Ian Rapoport reports.
Budda Baker left to stay in Arizona
While trade rumors for Cardinals star Budda Baker were high, the latter showed up for training camp and practiced on the first day. NFL Network has confirmed that the player has received $2.4 million in bonuses for the 2023 season and a new signing bonus of $300,000.
In an interview on the sidelines of the camp, the captain confirmed to be “all in”.
Sean Payton makes his mea culpa
Barely hours after knocking out Denver’s 2022 staff, Sean Payton (HC, Broncos) apologized, especially to his players, during a team meeting.
“I had a moment of bewilderment, where I spoke like the FOX analyst that I was, and not like the coach that I am today. I should have had more restraint, I regret it. »
Payton also announced that he would call the Jets coaching staff, including ex-Broncos Nathaniel Hackett.
The Broncos will meet the Jets in Week 5, and no doubt there will be a spirit of revenge on the New York side.
Green Bay and class, that’s two
Bad buzz for the Packers this Friday. Green Bay has come under fire on social media after linebacker Jonathan Garvin was cut on his birthday. Worse, the franchise had even wished his birthday to the neo-unemployed three hours before his dismissal.
Of course, Community Managers are rarely in the confidence of the coaching staff’s choices. Green Bay has since deleted the tweet.
This is sad: #Packers wished LB Jonathan Garvin a happy birthday Friday morning.

injuries
– The injury to Jalen Ramsey (CB, Dolphins) could be very serious. If the first reports put an end to the start of the season, Ian Rapoport (NFL Media) announces this Friday that the cornerback has undergone meniscus surgery and could be out until December. The Dolphins signed veteran Eli Apple to fill the gap.
– End of the season for Trai Turner (G, Saints). The 30-year-old five-time pro-bowler tore his quadriceps in practice on Friday (ESPN).
– The return of Kyler Murray (QB, Cardinals) to the field is still not relevant. the quarterback confirmed in an interview with the franchise website that he will take the time to return “when the time is right”.
