Perrion Winfrey suspected of threatening with a weapon and cut by the Browns
Choice of the Browns in the fourth round of the 2022 draft, Perrion Winfrey was cut this Wednesday by the franchise. The 22-year-old defensive tackle is being investigated by police after a woman said he threatened her and a friend while in possession of a gun , reports Fox8.
The scene reportedly took place in the lobby of a Cleveland hotel on Tuesday night. One of the women allegedly insulted Winfrey, who responded by showing that he had a gun on him.
Perrion Winfrey had already been arrested last April in Texas for assaulting a woman he was on a date with.
Zack Martin could go on strike
Unhappy with his contract with the Cowboys, Zack Martin is considering not showing up for training camp, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter explains. The guard, multiple All-Pro, considers himself largely underpaid compared to his performance.
Indeed, Martin’s contract gives him an average of $14 million until 2024. A far cry from the $20.5 million a year that Chris Lindstrom (Falcons) will earn since his extension in March. A significant gap which seems illogical, as Zack Martin has dominated his position since his arrival in the league in 2014.
He has just officially entered the 99 Club, the closed circle of players who received a rating of 99 on Madden NFL 24. It’s a small event in this game, since the last guard to have received this honor was Larry Allen, legend of the Cowboys too, in… 2003. More than 20 years of waiting, therefore, to see an interior offensive lineman receive the highest marks. Not sure if this is a bargaining lever for him, but it confirms his status as a star player in his position.
Rams didn’t try to trade Matthew Stafford
If rumors of a departure from Matthew Stafford occupied the offseason in Los Angeles, the Rams would in truth never have tried to part with the quarterback. Kevin Demoff, the franchise’s chief operating officer, explained this on The Athletic’s 11 Personnel podcast.
“I know there are rumors that we tried to trade Matthew. We weren’t trying to trade Matthew. I know Les (Snead) denied it. This is simply not the case. If you want to be in NFL reality, there are at least 10 teams this year that will have different quarterbacks. We were obviously aggressive in revamping our squad in March. It would be naive to think that people didn’t educate themselves on what was going to happen with the player who the previous year had won the Super Bowl. But it’s different whether people are inquiring or whether there are informal conversations. »
Amputated from a significant part of the champion team a year and a half ago, with in particular a decimated defense, it seems that the Rams are not candidates for the title this season. As for Matthew Stafford, despite all his qualities, he is nonetheless a 35-year-old quarterback who is coming back from injury and who does not necessarily dream of ending his career in a franchise more or less under reconstruction.
The Seahawks in nostalgia mode
Like the Vikings yesterday, the Seahawks have in turn revealed a retro jersey they will wear during the regular season. In a video posted on social media, rookie receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba showed off this ’90s tribute jersey.
Lighter than the navy blue worn today in Seattle, these colors are in fact those used by the Seahawks between 1976, when they arrived in the NFL, and 2002, when they joined the NFC West and their current stadium, the LumenField. As a nod to this story, 2002 is also the birth year of Smith-Njigba, so he wasn’t born the last time Seattle used this jersey as their primary kit.
The Seahawks will wear this set against the Browns in Week 8.
It’s the 90s. It’s now. It’s commemorative. It’s current. The Throwback uniforms are finally here.
