The Eagles cut Darius Slay

Darius Slay ended in Philadelphia. According to ESPN, the Eagles have decided to separate from the veteran corner, in an operation which aims to save wage bills. Thus, Adam Shefter points out that if Slay is cut after June 1, the team will earn $ 4.3 million in CAP.

During the combination, the general manager Howie Roseman had announced that the club was going to practice reshuffles of its workforce. Slay is therefore the first victim of the realignments of the Eagles. This is not a trivial decision, since the cornerback is an old All-Pro (2017) and was appointed six times Pro Bowler between 2017 and 2023. He lacked his appointment in the typical team only in 2020 (year of his arrival in Pennsylvania).

Will Slay bounce elsewhere?

It is therefore the end of the adventure in Pennsylvania, yet it is not the end of the road for the 34 -year -old veteran. Slay had announced that he would like to play another season. Ideally he wanted to prolong in Philadelphia, which will not be the case. But he also mentioned Detroit, a franchise who had drafted him in 2013 and who also will be a serious pretender in the title in 2025.

Otherwise, several teams could always be interested in a veteran of such quality. In 2024, Slay succeeded 49 tackles, 13 defended passes, and 1 forced fumble. He can negotiate with the League teams as soon as the free market negotiation window is open, March 12.
