The 10 lessons of week 8: history AJ Brown

AJ Brown, it’s historic

Sixth consecutive game over 125 yards, AJ Brown has just made history by passing Calvin “Megatron” Johnson. The Eagles receiver walks on water, and is only matched statistically by Tyreek Hill this season.

The best player on the team with the best record, he is quite simply a machine capable of spectacular receptions. His specialty is one-on-one, and he apparently only needs one hand.

The Jets have a good star

After surprise victories down to the wire against Buffalo and Philadelphia, the Jets were once again able to be decisive at the end of the match. Before Giants kicker Graham Gano’s field goal with 28 seconds remaining, the Jets statistically had only a 0.01% chance of winning.

However, Robert Saleh’s men took advantage of the Giants’ errors to win in overtime. The men in green don’t have Aaron Rodgers, but they have heart and never give up.

Ryan Tannehill (and Malik Willis), it’s over

In one game, Will Levis became the Titans’ starting quarterback. Author of an almost perfect game and four touchdowns, he energized the attack and his connection with DeAndre Hopkins seems natural. If a match does not determine a career (Marcus Mariota started with a perfect match), you have to give the product a chance and the Titans don’t really have a choice.

A team that is painful to watch play and suddenly becomes attractive, that’s rare in the middle of the season and it’s good for football.

Bryce Young finds rhythm

It’s far from perfect, but Bryce Young had his best game of the season against the Texans. After a week of rest, he returned with a cleaner game, less impatience and few individual errors. There is still a long way to go, but progress is visible and shows that the work is starting to pay off.

Quarterback, high-risk profession

An end to the season for Kirk Cousins, Matthew Stafford who does not finish the match, like Kenny Pickett and Tyrod Taylor, the list of injuries is long. More than ever, the quarterback position is prone to injuries, in a season where teams seem to lose hope of a season in a matter of seconds each week.

For the Vikings, Rams and Giants, this looks like an end clap for the 2023 season, while the Steelers will try more than ever to rely on a historic defense.

Love is gone

If Jordan Love has many factors that can explain a difficult first season, such as the youth of the squad, his overall performance remains insufficient. Author of 8 interceptions in 7 matches this season, the Green Bay quarterback scares people more than he brings the crowds to their feet.

It will take real progress before the end of the season so that the Packers do not choose to rebuild with a new coach and a new quarterback.

The Seahawks are NFC contenders

Jaxon Smith-Njigba saved his team at the end of the match with a touchdown, and this illustrates the mentality of this team which never gives up. Seattle has talent on offense and defense, and just added Leonard Williams.

With the most experienced coach in the conference, the Seahawks are serious title contenders. With the 49ers “falling,” the Seahawks may aim to win the division and start the playoffs at home.

Cincinnati doesn’t like September

For three seasons, the same debate after the month of September: are the Bengals lost? Can they go to the playoffs?

And every year, Joe Burrow and his teammates wake up spectacularly in October to (re)become a serious candidate in the AFC. Ja’Marr Chase is gaining momentum, Trey Hendrickson will enter the discussion for defender of the year and Joe Mixon is finding rhythm.

This team is complete and dangerous, and the convincing victory against the Niners proves it.

Kyle Shanahan doesn’t like October

When a favorite like San Francisco loses 3 games in a row, there are many people to blame. The defensive line is not up to standard, Brock Purdy is multiplying interceptions and the absence of Trent Williams is detrimental to the attack.

However, the overall decline in the workforce can also be attributed to the coaches. Kyle Shanahan seems without a solution on offense, while Steve Wilks is without a solution on defense. The week of rest will do good, and should allow the machine to restart.

We must save Davante Adams

Following the errors of his quarterback, Davante Adams missed the opportunity to have another great game. Something to want elsewhere.
