The Jaguars continue to dig deeper into their pockets.
The Jaguars view CB Tyson Campbell as an important part of their future and they're letting him know. According to Ian Rapoport, The Florida franchise and Campbell have reached an agreement on a four-year, $76.5 million extension. After Josh Allen in April and Trevor Lawrence a month ago, this is another very big extension offered by the Jaguars. The player becomes the highest-paid cornerback never named to the Pro Bowl in NFL history. This deal also makes him the 7th highest-paid cornerback in the league.
Tyson Campbell, a promising but unreliable player
Arriving in Jacksonville as the first pick in the second round of the 2021 Draft, Campbell has been a starter ever since. In 3 seasons in Florida, he played 43 games, made 204 tackles, 6 interceptions and forced 2 fumbles. While his last season did not meet expectations, with six games missed due to a hamstring injury, his 2022 season was worthy of the best: 3 interceptions, 9 passes defended, and a pass completion rate against him of 58.5%, placing him in the top 10 CBs according to the very serious PFF. With these amounts, the franchise is betting on a return to this level.
