You can also watch it on the NFL Game Pass in its original version.

The game

– Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 a.m. (Paris time), or 4:30 p.m. in Phoenix.
– The Eagles are considered the home team. Because at the Super Bowl, in odd years, the NFC conference is considered to be playing at home. The AFC is therefore the home team in even years.
– As a home team, the Eagles had a choice of shirts. They chose to play with their green jersey. The Chiefs will therefore play in white.
– The team that scored first has won 37 times out of 56 Super Bowls.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs

– The Eagles and Chiefs have faced each other 9 times. Kansas City leads 5 wins to 4.
– The Chiefs won the last game 42-30. It was October 3, 2021. Patrick Mahomes threw 5 touchdowns, while Jalen Hurts threw for 387 yards!

– The Eagles will be considered the home team and will therefore have first choice on the color of the shirts. In the Super Bowl, in odd years, the NFC conference is considered to be playing at home. The AFC is therefore the home team in even years.

Did you know ?

– In the last eight Super Bowls, the team that won the early-game toss lost the game! The Bengals extended that black streak last year.
– Never has a punt been returned for a touchdown in a Super Bowl.
– It has never snowed in a Super Bowl. In 2007, it was the first time that it rained, and it was in Miami.
– Teams that have never participated in the Super Bowl: Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions.
– In the first Super Bowl, each of the players on the winning team received $15,000.
– This year, players from the winning team will receive $157,000 each, which is $7,000 more than last year. The check for the losers will be $82,000. There too, it is 7000 dollars more than in 2022.

The event

– The first Super Bowl was held in 1966 in Los Angeles. It marked the meeting of the champions of the NFL and the AFL. The Green Bay Packers won the first two titles. Back in the days of the first two Super Bowls, the game wasn’t called that. Both games were retroactively called the Super Bowl. You can find the history of this name in podcast.
– The trophy presented to the winners bears the name of Vince Lombardi since the fifth Super Bowl, which took place in 1971. It was renamed only a few months after the death of the legendary Packers coach. Its value is estimated at 1625 dollars.
– The Lombardi trophy weighs just over 3 kilos.
– Miami is the city that has hosted the game most often, with 11 meetings.
– The Super Bowl is since 2002 considered as a “National special security event” by the American authorities. Exceptional security measures are therefore in effect during the festivities.
– In 1967, 6 to 12 dollars were enough to attend the Big Game. From now on, it is necessary to count at least 1000 dollars for a ticket, but they are almost impossible to find at their face value. On the secondary market, prices are averaging $9,400 this year.

The halftime show

– This year, Rihanna will perform the halftime show.
– The artists who provide the half-time show are not paid. The NFL is content to cover the production costs and fees.
– Jenifer Lopez’s streaming listens reportedly soared 335% after her performance in 2020.
– In 2018, Justin Timberlake’s music sales reportedly increased 534% after his Super Bowl halftime appearance. The concert therefore seems to be the only moment where “being paid in exposure” works.

A TV story

– The 2015 game between the Seahawks and Patriots was the most-watched program in American television history with an average viewership of 114.4 million.
– 91.6 million Americans watched the match on television in 2021, the lowest score since 2006. The combined score including Spanish broadcasts and digital platforms reached 96.4 million viewers.
– Ratings rebounded in 2022 with an average of 112.3 million viewers in the United States.
– Nine of the ten highest ratings in US TV history have come from the Super Bowl.
– The first Super Bowl was simulcast by CBS and NBC. Surprisingly, there would be no complete video archive of the first two editions. Only a 2-minute clip from the first game would have crossed time. At the time, the price of recordings was very high and it was common to erase copies. At the time, we didn’t think people would want to see a program they had already seen…
– The Super Bowl is broadcast alternately by NBC, CBS and FOX because TV rights are so expensive that the three channels share the payment.
– This year, the 30 seconds of advertisements are invoiced at 7 million dollars by NBC. There were 2.6 million in 2007 or 5.6 million in 2020. The increase continues.
– 71 commercials were shown during the 2015 game.
