Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) – New York Jets (2-5): 37-15
The Jets led 15 to 6, Russell Wilson (16/29, 264 yards, 2 TDs) had started the game sluggishly and Aaron Rodgers (24/39, 276 yards, 1 TD, 2 int) even had the ball to extend the advantage of his team. But Beanie Bishop, an undrafted rookie, emerged to intercept one of his passes. And Wilson then led his attack on 54 yards in 48 seconds to find George Pickens (5 rec, 111 yards, 1 TD) in the end zone and restart the match before the break (13-15).
Pittsburgh then made the difference after the break, with a defense as decisive as ever and Russell Wilson gaining momentum.
Quite the opposite of the Jets, whose defense continues to disappoint, with more than 400 yards conceded this Monday. And a Davante Adams (3 rec, 30 yards) whose arrival did not make the attack irresistible. Worse, the greens did not score a single point after the break.
Beanie Bishop, unlikely hero of the Steelers
On a night in which the Steelers' defensive stars were rather well contained, Beanie Bishop stole the show. After a field goal which gave his team the advantage (16-15) in the third quarter, the cornerback grabbed a pass which bounced off Garrett Wilson (5 rec, 61 yards) to sign his second interception. Above all, he returned the ball to the opponent's 1 yard, only stopped by a valiant defender Davante Adams.
But Russell Wilson scores on the ground in the next action (23-15). And after a missed field goal by the Jets, this same Wilson takes the attack 75 yards in 11 actions for the KO touchdown, signed by Van Jefferson on an 11-yard reception (30-15).
After another failure by the Jets in attack, it is Najee Harris (21 races, 102 yards, 1 TD) who completes the scoring for Pittsburgh's biggest offensive game this year.
The Jets overwhelmed and ineffective
409 yards conceded. 31 points conceded in a row. While the Steelers can be satisfied with the Russell Wilson effect, the Jets are still looking for the Jeff Ullbrich effect. The interim coach lost his second match in as many outings. The green defense is no longer scary.
Only Breece Hall (12 races, 38 yards, 1 TD – 6 rec, 103 yards) served as a reason for satisfaction, particularly for his aerial contribution.
