Steelers get wide receiver Mike Williams

The Steelers have been looking for another receiver for a long time. They found it with the Jets.

ESPN announces that Mike Williams will join Pittsburgh in a trade.

New York receives a 5th round pick in the 2025 Draft to part with its receiver. Aaron Rodgers even quickly confirmed the information himself on ESPN. “ Mike is a good guy, he will be good in this locker room“, assured the Jets quarterback.

Mike Williams, victim of Davante Adams

Mike Williams' departure is anything but a surprise. He seemed in the pipeline from the moment the Jets put together a trade to bring in Davante Adams to the rescue.

Arriving this season in New York, Williams caught 12 passes from Rodgers in 9 games, with 166 yards to boot.

Seventh choice in the 2017 NFL Draft, the 1.93 m, 99 kilo receiver spent the first seven years of his career with the Chargers, with whom he alternated between good and mediocre. His best year remains the 2021 campaign, during which he was targeted 129 times, for 76 receptions, 1,146 yards and 9 touchdowns.

From now on, his goal will be to complement George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth in Pittsburgh. Since the arrival of Russell Wilson at the head of the attack, with a defense as solid as ever, the Steelers now present themselves as serious contenders. And they acted as such by adding a reinforcement before the end of the transfer window.
