A new wind of the 90s is going to blow over Seattle.
The Seattle Seahawks announced on Wednesday that they will once again be wearing their “Throwback” uniform this season. Reinvented last year, it largely borrows from the design used by the franchise in the 1990s. The jersey is royal blue, the silver helmet features the old logo of the Franchise, while the pants are the same silver and are decorated with apple green piping. The jersey also features a nod to the Kingdome, the stadium where the Seahawks played since their inaugural season (1976), on the inside of the collar. This old design was also linked to this stadium, since it followed the team until 2002, when the team moved to the current Lumen Field.
The “Throwback” uniform was already worn twice last season. First in October against the Cleveland Browns during a 24-20 victory. Then a second time in November against the Cowboys during a spectacular 35-41 defeat. This season, the Seattle Seahawks players will wear it in primetime on Thursday, October 10. It will be during an electric Thursday Night Football against their division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers.

Many teams have succumbed to the “Throwback” jersey trend in recent years. Recently, the New York Giants made a splash with a very original uniform celebrating their centennial. Others like the Minnesota Vikings are looking to play on originality with limited edition uniforms.
