If there were any doubts about the Commanders' intentions to select a quarterback with their 2nd draft pick, there are no more. According to ESPN the capital franchise sends Sam Howell to the Seahawks. Washington recovers a 3rd and a 5th round of 2024 draft against the quarterback, a 4th and a 6th round.
Starting in 2023, Howell had a decent season at the head of the attack. Capable of honorable matches, like completely breaking down like against the Bills where he notably threw 4 interceptions. Very close to 4,000 passing yards, he threw 21 touchdowns for as many interceptions. He also added 5 rushing touchdowns.
Selected in the 5th round in 2022, the former North Carolina player started a game during his rookie season at the end of the season before being named starting pitcher by Ron Rivera last offseason. In Seattle, his primary mission should above all be to be Geno Smith's understudy and to be present when needed.
