NFL Media has confirmed fears regarding Derek Carr. The New Orleans quarterback suffers from a severely broken left hand. He was injured on the receiving end of a diving catch in an attempt to gain a few more yards.
A potential return to play is not considered for several weeks, which, given the progress of the season, means an end to the campaign for the pitcher.
In fact, he will probably be placed on the injured list. However, this option is not certain to allow a return to the workforce in the event of a rapid convalescence.
Derek Carr has juggled injuries this year
Carr had previously missed three games this year. Hit in the obliques against the Chiefs in week 5, he was replaced by Spencer Rattler for mixed success. During this period the Saints lost three times. New Orleans also has Jake Haener in the relief squad.
In his eleventh season in the league – and his second with the Saints – Carr played 10 games, for 5 wins and 5 losses. He threw for 2,145 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He is still under contract with the Louisiana franchise for two years.
