Saints: Derek Carr out for several weeks

According to NFL Network, Derek Carr will miss several weeks of competition.

The Saints quarterback injured his oblique during the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The New Orleans franchise will play 2 games in 9 days (Buccaneers Sunday, Broncos next Thursday). Thus, there is a good chance that Derek Carr will be absent for at least these 2 games, pending a re-evaluated diagnosis in a few weeks.

The Saints remain on 3 defeats in a row after 2 convincing first matches. The loss of Carr is therefore bad news from a recovery perspective. Against the Chiefs, Dennis Allen launched Jake Haener who returned a record of 2 completed passes on 7 throws, for 17 small yards.

Rookie Spencer Rattler to replace Derek Carr?

The training week will therefore be important for Denis Allen and his offensive staff. The starting place will be played out between Jake Haener, 2nd year player or Spencer Rattler, rookie drafted in the 5th round.

Former Fresno State Jake Haener has the advantage of having been able to play a few snaps early in the season. However, South Carolina alum (and former Netflix star) Spencer Rattler reportedly impressed during the preseason. Against the Cardinals during this period, he led his team to victory with a decisive touchdown late in the game.

The duel is therefore launched between the 2 young players.
