The Saints had difficulty overcoming the Bears. Once again, the defense made the difference for the New Orleans players
New Orleans Saints (5-4) – Chicago Bears (2-7): 24-17
What a funny Saints game. Long pushed around in defense, New Orleans held on in attack in the first half.
Conversely in the second half, while the defense causes 4 turnovers, the attack no longer advances and does not improve any of these turnovers.
In the end the Saints won by a close score of 24 to 17. A generous score with Chicago as the locals could have driven home the point. Fans can thank Paulson Adebo, the man of the evening, author of 2 interceptions and 1 forced fumble.
The Saints jostled
While we could expect domination from the Saints, the locals surprised negatively, particularly in defense.
In great difficulty against Cole Kmet and especially against the runs of Tyler Bagent (60 yards on the ground at halftime!). The defense concedes two touchdowns in this first act. Each time, Bagent advances his attack on his runs and concludes by finding Kmet in the end zone. The locals only saved their honor in defense thanks to an interception by Adebo.
Fortunately for New Orleans, the offense has been better for two weeks. Apart from a punt to start, the Saints managed to score a touchdown on their two other offensive possessions.
On the first, the locals showcased all their talents with the actions of Kamara, Hill, Saheed… In the end it was Chris Olave who received a pass for the touchdown.
New Orleans equalizes after a controlled series of 11 actions and 6 minutes. Once again it is the pass that moves the team forward the most. Derek Carr ends up finding Hill for the touchdown reception.
The two teams return to the locker room with a score of 14-14 after seeing Chicago miss a kick
just before halftime.
The defense has its say
In the second half, Denis Allen’s men returned to transform their defense. They cause 4 turnovers to prevent any comeback from the Bears.
And it was necessary at least that to win this evening because for its part the attack almost never manages to produce these turnovers despite advantageous positions on the field… New Orelans even misses a field goal.
The Saints’ only positive foray came at the start of the last quarter. New Orleans takes the advantage (24-17) on a pass from Tysom Hill to tight end Juwan Johnson. The only offensive ray of sunshine in this second act.
