Back to the west for Robert Saleh. Landed his main jet coach post during the season, the coach returns where he was just before his getaway in New York.
The 49ers announced the hiring of Saleh to the post of defensive coordinator. The San Francisco franchise thanked Nick Sorensen after a single season at the head of the defensive squad.
Robert Saleh has therefore already been the defensive coordinator of the 49ers, from 2017 to 2020. He arrived at the same time as Kyle Shanahan in the bay. The peak of his passage was the 2019 season, when San Francisco ranked 2nd on authorized Yards. Performance that had allowed him to increase his rating to get the main position at the Jets.
Robert Saleh flirted with the Jaguars
Driven by the jets in early October, Saleh obviously kept a good rating in the league, since the cowboys, raiders and jaguars made him pass a job interview for their main coach position. The first two did not go very far, but ESPN reports that he was in the race for the Jacksonville position.
The leaders of the Niners therefore had to take their pain in patience. Once the reversals of the Liam Coen saga finished, Saleh was again the favorite to lead the defense of San Francisco.
This will therefore be the case. He will find an environment, a staff and a few familiar players.
