Rob Gronkowski (Buccaneers): “If I was asked to choose now, I would retire”

Coming out of his first retirement to accompany Tom Brady in his quest for a new Super Bowl last year, Rob Gronkowski seems closer and closer to the exit. Already interviewed earlier in the week, the tight end indicated that he needed to take a step back.

Again interviewed by TMZ.com, he spoke on Wednesday about his future. The balance seems to be tilting against a comeback.

“If someone said to me, ‘Rob, you have to decide right there, in the second, if you play next season’ then I would say ‘No, I won’t play’. “

Later, Gronkowski explains that he has to tend to his injuries before making a decision.

“I just want to get fully back on my feet, and see what my head is saying then. But first and foremost I have to let things settle down and heal a bit. Heal all knocks and bruises. “

In March, Gronkowski will also be a free agent, so his future may not necessarily be in Tampa Bay.
