23,500 licensees for American football and flag. 5500 more for cheerleading.
23,500 + 5,500 = 29,000. The count is good, it’s a new record for the French Federation of American Football.
Last Thursday, the FFFA announced this new reference mark which therefore concerns the 2022-23 season which is ending.
“This achievement is the fruit of the hard work of all the players involved in our sport, from players to volunteers, including leaders of clubs and associations”, explains Brigitte Schleifer, president of the FFFA, on the official website of the federation. . “Together, we have built a community united by the passion for American football, flag football and cheerleading. This success encourages us to continue to develop our disciplines throughout France. Thank you to each of you for your support and commitment. »
The records of licensees are linked for the FFFA
In July 2022, the FFFA already announced that it had beaten its best score with 25,000 licenses distributed. In one year, the progression is therefore notable, with 4,000 additional memberships.
And the trend is long term. In 2019, the number of licensees stood at 23,000, with 225 clubs registered.
Numbers that are perhaps boosted by the recent emphasis on flag football, from the NFL to the local level.
