Rams – Seahawks (23-27): Seattle at the finish

Los Angeles Rams (3-9) – Seattle Seahawks (7-5): 23-27

A matchup between two teams in the same division where we would think that at this point in the season the Rams would be ahead of the Seahawks before the start of this one.

After a touchdown from Rams running back Cam Akers 3 minutes from the end, an offensive series of 10 games and 75 yards culminates in a touchdown from DK Metcalf (8 REC, 127 YDS, 1 TD), which takes over Jalen Ramsey, on a pass from Geno Smith (28/39, 367 YDS, 3 TDs, 1 INT) 40 seconds from the end of the match. Los Angeles believed in it but it was Seattle who had the last word with an interception by Cody Barton which sealed the victory for his team.

This 6th consecutive defeat probably means the end of playoff hopes for Los Angeles. Seattle can still believe it after this victory which puts an end to a series of 3 consecutive defeats.

Seattle seeks runner

In the first minutes, both teams are inspired offensively with receiver Tyler Lockett (9 REC, 128 YDS, 1 TD) responding to runner Cam Akers (17 carries, 60 YDS, 2 TDs).

But, the bad news for the Seahawks is the injury of their running backs, and in particular Kenneth Walker III who hurt his ankle just before Lockett’s touchdown and who did not return. Dallas who suffered the same injury as his teammate just before halftime but who will return for the 2nd half.

Meanwhile, Seattle is more sharp. Offensively first with Geno Smith completing his second touchdown pass for Noah Fant and defensively with another interception from Tariq Woolen, his 6th of the season.

Los Angeles, without Matthew Stafford or Cooper Kupp, goes over the ground, and despite a fumble from John Wolford (14/26, 178 YDS, 2 INT), Matt Gay closes the gap in a pleasant first half. (13-14)

Remembering Bobby Wagner

The defenses take over in the second half. After a fumble from Smith covered by Taylor Rapp, the Seahawks respond with a sack from Jordyn Brooks.

Already author of 2 sacks in the 1st half, Bobby Wagner stands out by intercepting Geno Smith after a messed up ball by Tony Jones Jr. The 2 teams go blow for blow despite a new sack from Uchenna Nwosu with 1 field goal from each crew.

All this until the crazy last 3 minutes of the match which sees Seattle getting a little closer to the playoffs, unlike Los Angeles which signs one of the worst seasons of a defending team. Revenge expected during the last week of the regular season, January 8, with perhaps a qualification in the playoffs at the end for the team of Pete Caroll.
