Las Vegas Raiders (2-1) – Carolina Panthers (1-2): 22-36
Tough Monday ahead for Brice Young. The young quarterback saw his replacement, Andy Dalton, shine and lead a real recital for the Panthers' attack.
36 points scored and 437 yards gained, Andy Dalton and Carolina made short work of the Raiders. With this new offensive face, the whole team has transformed since even the defense has done well.
Opposite, Las Vegas falls back into its old ways. After a great victory against the Ravens, the Raiders lose at home against Carolina… Irregularity reigns supreme in the city of vice.
Andy Dalton this hero
For the first time in over a year, the Panthers started a game without Bryce Young. And it did them good.
The visitors strolled in the first half: 21 points scored, 256 yards of offense… Carolina showed a completely different face on offense. Who else but Andy Dalton to embody it? The veteran quarterback showed how much easier life is with a decent quarterback.
The “Red Rifle” returns to the locker room with a record of 15/22, 212 yards and 3 touchdowns thrown to Chubba Hubbard, Diontae Johnson and Adam Thielen. The entire offense benefits from Dalton's throws and smiles are again on the lips at this point.
And it seems that this offensive momentum is also good for the defense. The Panthers chain together stops in defense and force the Raiders to 3 punts and a 4th failed attempt. Carolina's defense cracks only once by allowing a 97-yard series that Mattison concludes on the ground.
At half-time, the locals lost 21 to 7 against a Panthers team that they did not expect to be at this level. Tough on Brice Young's mental strength.
Las Vegas without a clue
In the second half, the Raiders were unable to reverse the trend. While the defense did a little better by first limiting the visitors to two field goals (7-27), the offense was struggling. Gardner Minshew couldn't find his receivers, the ground game was lacking in efficiency, and we saw a lot of punts on the Vegas side.
Although the Panthers were a little less effective offensively, they managed to get out of the way early in the last quarter. Miles Sanders finished an 84-yard comeback with a touchdown to lead 33 to 7.
Humiliated, the Raiders will respond with pride with a touchdown from Jakobi Meyers on the following series. But trailing 15-33, the hopes of a comeback are too limited. Especially since Minshew throws an interception in the middle of the 4th quarter. A loss of the ball that the Panthers transform into a field goal (15-36).
The die is cast. Antonio Pierce brings in Aidan O'Connell at quarterback. The white flag is raised. Even if the quarterback will go for a touchdown (22-36) by finding Tucker at the very end of the game.
Obviously, the victory will be good for the Panthers. Carolina has been chasing a good performance for too long. However, in the long term, such a match can only cause even more concern about the future of Bryce Young…
