Raiders: Jimmy Garoppolo suspended for doping (and fired?)

Difficult weekend for Jimmy Garoppolo. The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback has just been suspended for two games by the league for violating rules regarding the use of performance-enhancing drugs, according to Adam Shefter (ESPN).

Indeed, Jimmy G. allegedly used prohibited medications without having a prescription from a doctor. If this had been the case, then this would have allowed him to do so under the cover of a “therapeutic use exemption”.

And as bad news always comes flying, Tom Brady's former understudy could find himself without a contract. Still according to Adam Shefter, the Raiders should soon announce the dismissal of the quarterback, less than a year after his arrival. The player is the one who costs the franchise the most ($28.3 million in the 2024 payroll). The move would save 11.25 million.

The 2023 season was tricky for Jimmy Garoppolo, with 6 starts for 1,205 yards, 7 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

At this point, Aidan O'Connell and Brian Hoyer are Las Vegas' other quarterbacks.
