According to multiple sources, the Raiders quarterback will not play this weekend due to a back injury.
New week without Jimmy Garoppolo for the Raiders. After having already had to do without the services of their quarterback in week 4 due to a concussion, the Las Vegas players will once again have to do without the former 49er this Sunday against the Bears, according to information from Adam Schefter of ESPN, confirmed by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Garoppolo injured his back during the game against the Patriots in Week 6. He was hospitalized for a few hours before being released.
His coach Josh McDaniels initially explained that his condition was much better than expected, but it will obviously be too short to play this week.
Who to replace Jimmy Garoppolo?
Aidan O’Connell, in difficulty during the defeat against the Chargers, could therefore take control. The player selected in the 4th round of the last Draft returned a record of 24/39 for 238 yards and an interception against Los Angeles.
Brian Hoyer, victorious against New England, is also a candidate. The Raiders, second in the AFC West with a balanced record of 3 wins for 3 losses, must maintain the pace if they want to dream of the playoffs.
This could push them to choose veteran Hoyer. At 38 years old, he certainly doesn’t represent the future, but Josh McDaniels doesn’t have time to let O’Connell get used to it.
