Raiders: 4 to 6 weeks of absence for Aidan O'Connell

ESPN reports that Aidan O'Connell has suffered a broken thumb on his right hand. As a result, the Nevada quarterback will be placed on injured reserve and will miss four to six weeks of competition.

O'Connell took the reins of the Raiders' attack in Week 6, replacing Gardner Minshew who was deemed too unsatisfactory. The young pitcher was injured when his hand hit Kam Curl during the first half of the game against the Rams.

I tried to play through the pain, but it didn't work, » declared the pitcher according to ESPN. “ It's really unfortunate. I was really looking forward to playing today and taking advantage of this opportunity, and it's really hard for it to suddenly end like this. »

In four appearances this year, Aidan O'Connell has produced 455 yards and two touchdowns against two interceptions.

Ultimately Las Vegas is not going to have any other option to put Minshew back on the field. Unfortunately, against Los Angeles, the veteran fell back into his ways, with three interceptions and a lost fumble in a defeat with a score of 15 to 20.

“I've never had so many turnovers in my life,” Minshew said. “It’s very frustrating. So I have to take care of this, keep studying, keep working, have good habits, and we will get through this. »

This year, Minshew threw for 1,168 yards and four touchdowns, but above all eight interceptions (league record). The alternative would be to trust Carter Bradley, who is on the roster but is only ever an undrafted free agent.
