In great shape at the moment, the Jacksonville Jaguars are aiming for a fourth success in a row in New Orleans.
Kick-off on the night of Thursday to Friday at 2:15 a.m.
New Orleans Saints (3-3) – Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2)
This may start to become a habit for the Jaguars: stringing together wins. Already last year, Jacksonville had recorded a series of 5 consecutive successes to end the season (+1 in playoffs). This Thursday they have the opportunity to carry their current series at 4. A performance that had not been successful since 2017 before unlocking 2022. To do this, we will have to beat the Saints in New Orleans, in a Thursday Night Football which can prove tricky.
Trevor Lawrence uncertain
The first question of this part will necessarily be the state of health of Trevor Lawrence. The quarterback appeared injured in the knee in the final minutes of his team’s victory against the Colts. The pitcher only had three days to recover before facing one of the best defenses in the NFL. New Orleans only authorizes 278.3 yards per game (5th in the NFL)of which only 182 in the air (5th). A solid squad which only takes 16 points on average since the start of the season (6th in the league).
It will therefore not be easy to maneuver this team, especially if the offensive leader is not at 100%. The duel between Calvin Ridley and Marshon Lattimore will be one of the most exciting to watch. The cornerback is still one of the best players at his position and represents one of the leaders of this defense. Problem is, he often struggles against the old Falcon. Against the Saints, the receiver has already recorded 36 receptions for 556 yards and 4 TDs.
Jaguars in unfavorable terrain
The other objective of the Jaguars, who want to secure their first place in the AFC South, will be to finally win in Louisiana. New Orleans is indeed a city where the Jaguars have never won (with New England, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington). They display a record of 0-3 at the Superdome and want to unlock their meter. Especially since they are currently undefeated away from home (victory in Indianapolis and London against the Bills). For their part, the Saints do not want to let the Falcons and the Buccaneers slip away at the top of this NFC South.
A victory this Thursday would put their rivals under pressure ahead of Sunday’s matches. Despite a balanced record, Denis Allen’s men have arguments to put forward. Above all, they have this ability to make matches close. Since the start of the season 4 of their 6 meetings ended in one possession or less. Result, two victories and two defeats for New Orleans. The Jaguars must therefore expect a tough match that they will have to pull off if they want their 4th consecutive victory.
