Preseason S3 (Thursday): an up and down for Anthony Richardson

Cincinnati Bengals – Indianapolis Colts: 14-27 – Anthony Richardson quickly calmed down

If Anthony Richardson wanted to reassure himself before the start of the season… He should have come out after the first series. The quarterback started by going for a touchdown at the end of an 80-yard offensive drive. On this first series, Richardson returned a 7/8 for 65 yards, including a 9-yard pass to send rookie Adonai Mitchell into the end zone.

But the rest was much more complicated for Anthony Richardson, intercepted on the following drive by a Jordan Battle who returned the ball for a defensive touchdown. And the next three series ended with punts, with Richardson fumbled on a sack, fortunately covered by one of his teammates.

Indianapolis will be more reassured by the rookies. Mitchell therefore shone in attack, and Laiatu Latu, their first-round pick, quickly managed a sack.

The Bengals rested all of their starters. The defense proved it has depth with this great performance against the Indianapolis starters.

Kansas City Chiefs – Chicago Bears: 21-34 – Kadarius Toney shows up

All the main starters were rested for this meeting. It must be said that Patrick Mahomes and Caleb Williams had already largely put on a show during the preparation period. Kadarius Toney, who seemed to be sinking into the hierarchy of the Chiefs receivers, took the opportunity to show himself.

He caught two passes for 26 yards and returned a punt for 16 yards. Enough to save his spot?

Among the former prospects trying to keep their jobs, Velus Jones seems to have scored big points in Chicago. The 2022 third-round pick gained 111 yards on 13 carries, including a touchdown. He also caught two passes for 11 yards.
