Trevor Lawrence (QB, Jaguars) is starting to look like the player that was advertised. After a very difficult rookie season (12 TDs, 17 interceptions), the one who has been presented for years as a generational talent launched his year on another gear (6 TDs, 1 interception). His Sunday game against the Chargers (28/39, 262 yards, 3 TDs) earned him his first (and not his last?) AFC Offensive Player of the Week trophy. This is the first time since David Garrard in 2010 that a Jaguars player has won the accolade.
In the NFC, Cordarrelle Patterson (RB, Falcons) was named in particular for his exceptional second half against the Seahawks. This is the second award of this type for the player who literally martyred the defense of Seattle by accumulating 147 yards (including 101 after the break) and 1 TD against the Ospreys. We also note the appointment of Broncos punter Corliss Waitman for the AFC special teams, well helped by his attack which forced him to punt 10 times in the meeting.
