Players of the week 17: a little novelty

Originality in this disturbed NFL week among the players of the week

The NFL decided to innovate in the trophies of the players of week 17 by rewarding players who have never been in the spotlight this season.

In the NFC, for the Buccaneers, receiver Mike Evans was the great architect of victory and qualification in the playoffs against the Panthers with 3 touchdowns. In addition, this is his 9th season with more than 1,000 receiving yards: which is a first in NFL history. In AFC, author of a double including a touchdown of 72 yards against the Rams, the running back of the Chargers Austin Ekeler is rewarded. With this double, he is the leader in number of touchdowns with 18 (13 on the run, 5 on the landing).

In defense, in AFC, it is Kyle Dugger who is (finally) distinguished. 3rd defensive touchdown for him this season in addition to 2 defended passes, he was everywhere during his team’s victory against the Dolphins. In NFC, 11th consecutive season with more than 7 sacks for Cameron Jordan, author of a monstrous match against the Eagles (3 sacks).

In special teams, the Packers are often criticized for this but it is clear that the team can also distinguish itself in this area. The proof with cornerback Keisean Nixon, author of a return kickoff for touchdown from 105 yards. In AFC, it is Browns punter Corey Bojorquez to be singled out.

NFC Conference:

– Offensive: Mike Evans (WR, Buccanneers) – 10 receptions, 207 yards, 3 touchdowns

– Defensive: Cameron Jordan (DE, Saints) – 5 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble

– Special teams: Keisean Nixon (CB, Green Bay) – 105-yard touchdown on kickoff return

AFC Conference:

– Offensive: Austin Ekeler (RB, Chargers) – 161 yards, 2 touchdowns

– Defense: Kyle Dugger (S, Patriots) – 5 tackles, 2 passes defended, 1 interception (1 TD)

– Special teams: Corey Bojorquez (P, Browns)
