Lamar Jackson is in good shape, proof by 5. A game with five passing touchdowns against the Buccaneers, a series of five consecutive victories (ended this weekend), and now Lamar Jackson wins the title for the 5th time NFL Player of the Month. An award which honors a fantastic start to the season for the reigning MVP, who could well be heading towards a third trophy, as he is so impressive.
In a very opposite style, Jared Goff plays the role of the metronome of the Lions. No more than 25 passes thrown per game, only 15 in the last one against the Titans, but he seems incapable of missing his target. 80% of passes completed in October, 8 touchdowns and no interceptions. Goff seems to have found his best role, and Detroit his conductor.
In defense, no jealousy. Pass rusher like defensive back, everyone is entitled to their share of the pie. In the NFC, Xavier McKinney continues to pile up interceptions. 2 in October, which brings his total to 6. A short month, considering what he has offered since the start of the season. Will Anderson continues his demolition business in the NFC, compiling the sacks. 5 in October, including 3 on poor Drake Mayefed to the beastly Anderson.
As in September, Chris Boswell was voted AFC Special Teams Player of the Month. A perfect October for someone celebrating their tenth season in Pittsburgh. In the NFC, Chad Ryland is making a name for himself with the Cardinals. Not retained by the Patriots, he arrived in Arizona at the beginning of October to replace the injured Matt Prater. Result ? Three victories, all achieved thanks to a decisive field goal from Ryland, including two on the gong. A well-deserved trophy.
Among the rookies, Bo Nix shows up in Denver. The Broncos have a surprisingly positive record, thanks to their three October victories. They owe it in part to their rookie quarterback, who seems to be making his mark in Sean Payton's attack. A good omen for the future. Far from the glitter of the first round, Beanie Bishop Jr. had to find his place in the league. Undrafted upon leaving West Virginia, Bishop has today established himself as an indisputable starter for the Steelers. Leader in passes defended in the NCAA in 2023, he continues on this path in the NFL, also with three interceptions as a bonus.
