The Patriots continue their big clean-up.
The Patriots continue their big clean-up. After thanking their quarterback Mac Jones (now with the Jaguars), the New England franchise decided to cut JuJu Smith-Schuster. Drafted by the Steelers in 2017, the veteran receiver joined the Chiefs in 2022 with whom he won a Super Bowl. JuJu then joined the Patriots in 2023. Product or factor of a dysfunctional attack, Smith-Schuster had the worst season of his career during his only season in Massachusetts (260 receiving yards and one touchdown in eleven games).
A departure precipitated by the competition at the receiver position with the Patriots. Indeed, the New England franchise drafted two receivers in 2024, Ja'Lynn Polk (Washington) and Javon Baker (Central Florida). In addition to these two recruits, there is second-year receiver Tyquan Thornton and KJ Obsorn, who recently arrived from the Vikings.
A few months earlier, it was DeVante Parker, also a veteran receiver, who was cut by the Patriots before bouncing back to the Eagles. It remains to be seen where JuJu Smith-Schuster will land.
