Rookie quarterbacks continue to be the main attractions of the preseason. On Thursday night, Drake Maye (6/11, 47 yards – 4 carries, 15 yards, 1 TD) didn't enter until late in the second quarter, but he was the one who stole the show from everyone.
In four offensive series (25 snaps) the number 3 of the last Draft brought 10 points to his team. First by leading a drive completed by a field goal as soon as he entered the game.
Then Drake Maye went for a touchdown on the ground himself, on a 4-yard run. The start of the third quarter was less prolific in terms of scoring, with two offensive drives without results. But the main thing is always elsewhere at this time of year. Maye seemed calm, he made his reads and threw a few nice balls, one of which was released by a teammate. His legs also brought a little extra.
Jacoby Brissett less convincing than Drake Maye
Jacoby Brissett's starting spot (3/7, 17 yards, 1 int) may not be in jeopardy right now, but they'll definitely have to do better in the regular season. Brissett's three series? 3-and-outinterception, 3-and-out. Ouch.
The Patriots will also be able to rejoice in the performance of the defense. Even though the starters only faced the substitutes of the Philadelphia offense, they had control of events. The day after Matthew Judon left, Josh Uche, Deatrich Wise and Keion White responded with a sack each.
On Philadelphia's side, we had rested most of the starters. It was on defense that we played the most players who should have a role in the season. Nakobe Dean showed up with 5 tackles. Nolan Smith made a sack.
